Rice Cereal
Today was Sydney's first time to eat rice cereal! It was a first time for everyone, including Mommy and Daddy. So, I may have made it too runny, but nevertheless, we'll still count today as the first day to eat rice cereal. Sydney is teething right now. Her second tooth is coming in! So, she's constantly putting everything possible in her mouth and biting down on it. She wanted to chomp down on the spoon, rather than eat the contents in it. She also thought her bib was rather tasty! Yes, the bib is the size of her and could definitely be an apron on her. Hey - you can never be too covered when you are a baby! :) We'll see if tomorrow is any better!

First Day at Daycare
Sydney had her first day at daycare today! She did great! She took some good naps and drank all of her bottles! Her teacher told Scotty that she was advanced because she can 'hold her bottle!' Well, she can't technically hold her bottle, but she gets really excited when it's time to eat and she tends to shove the bottle in her mouth! It's pretty funny! Our little girl is growing up so fast! :)

First Tooth
Sydney is getting her first tooth!!! Her bottom, right tooth is poking out! It's sharp and we can definitely feel it. She's been teething for at least a month now. Her hands are constantly in her mouth. She's just starting to grab her teething ring and stick it in her mouth to chew on it.
She had her 4-month well visit on Friday. She weighs 14 pounds and 7 ounces! She's 80% in height and weight. Sydney had fever when we went in, so we weren't able to get her 4-month shots. She had fever throughout the weekend, but never had any other symptoms. She stayed home with daddy today. Tomorrow will be her first day of daycare! I hope it goes well and I hope she can get some good naps in that noisy room!
It's amazing how much Sydney changes! Her personality is really shining through and she really is such a happy baby! She's such a JOY!

Finally Posting
It has been a looooooooong time since I posted anything. I keep thinking that I'll "catch up" on posting, but at this point I might as well just move on and start posting from here.
These last three months have FLOWN by! To imagine that Sydney was in my belly just three months ago is still hard to fathom. Just tonight I was looking at her and thinking, "You grew inside me!" It's still so amazing to me. The love I have for her is more than she can imagine.
Scotty is taking care of her these days. We will put her in daycare once he starts the fall semester. Last week was my first full week back to work. It was tough, but my busy season will soon be over and I can take a day off here and there to be with my little munchkin. I really look forward to weekends these days and spending all day with Sydney.
Sydney has started teething. :( It just makes me so sad when my always-happy baby is fussy due to teething. We are trying a few different things. For the most part though, she's so happy and 'talking' all the time! I always tell her that I like the stories she tells me. :)

Introducing Sydney Anne Shannon
Sydney Anne Shannon was born on May 1, 2010 at 11:35pm. She weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. She is as sweet as can be and is perfect in every way!
I was in labor for 12 hours and we almost thought Sydney would be a May 2nd baby! The joy was overwhelming once we held her for the first time. I would go through labor every day for a month to have something so wonderful and so incredible. The pain and tears throughout that day seem like nothing compared to the happiness felt at that very moment. I will never forget that feeling. It truly is God's work and His miracle. We are so, so blessed and we thank God every day for this little being that has mesmerized us.
One of my favorite moments the first week was when Sydney would look up at me as if she were saying, "I've wondered for so long and now I know what you look like!" She looked at me as if she were taking me in. It was so wonderful!

We are so proud!

What a proud Daddy!
On our way home ...
Roxie and Harley got to meet Sydney for the first time.
Scotty introduced Sydney to his family in California.
On Mother's Day I received this email forward from a friend and I thought it was so true!
Before I was a Mom
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom
I had never been puked on
Pooped on
Chewed on
Peed on.
I had complete control over my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests
or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew I could love someone so much.
I never knew I could love being a mom.
Before I was a Mom
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside of my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes, to make sure everything was ok.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a mom.
before I was a mom.
